I hate bugs. With a passion. I aint scared of them, I just hate them. Since i’m like 2″8 small bugs are bigger to me then you would think. Most of them are harmless, but I dont like ‘em anyways. For every one that you kill two more pop up to take its place. Out here on this trek looking for plants, you get too many bugs.
Yesterday morning i’m cooking food for me, dad and Green. Soup. Good to keep you going and filled. I’m gone for one minute and I get back to see one of those blasted bugs in my soup. Already drowned. Yeah, my soup is THAT good… So i scoop the little sucker out, and take a look at him. No poison glands, no big hollow teeth. Safe. I remember trying to eat one just to see how it tastes… The worst taste in this world are these bugs. I’ll never eat one ever again… You’re going to want to die first. It wasnt opened and like bleeding into the soup, just a bit dirty, we’re good. Getting everyone served up, (not something I regularly do, Green has too, i’m normally out trying to make sure we don’t get eaten mind you!), when I get an idea.
After eating I get the field guide from my dad, and look through the plants. Just looking for a plant that’ll act as a repellant for the bugs. Yeah, im soo the brains here. So I go out looking for this plant. Not the best one out there, but its common. Purple rock moss. Easy to find in this portion of the world. Dont know quite how it works, or how to apply it…but it says not poison, and it cant kill you…but the side effects of it are a little blurred. Bad ink day i guess… Well if it cant kill me i’m good eh?
So I take some, shove it down my mouth, and smile. No more bugs. This is MY day!
Two hours later I feel like im going to die. My skin has turned purple and I smell like a rotten egg. Only way to fix it? I have to eat bugs for the next couple of days. It’ll counter the effects. Now that I have it on, I cant seem to find any of those damned bugs… I should be so lucky.
