Known as a Professor of Science from Clockworks University, Morty Teedlebaum is the epitome of the ‘mad scientist’ and the pride and joy of the Political Party of government. Morty is an inventor who has been the foundation of most major cutting-edge technologies for the past three decades which have changed the lives of Gnomes worldwide.
…yet Morty has rarely invented a project to completion.
Instead, Morty is used by the Political Party of government to create revenue, year after year, by capitalizing on his misfortunes. In fact, laws have been created to use Morty’s skills (or lack thereof) as a funnel for government funds. Fundraisers within the Political Faction of government know that his invention do not usually come to fruition, yet the possibilities should he succeed are endless. Thus great lengths are made to raise funds for his projects, granting their complete turn over should he cross any number of established points of completion. If he fails to achieve the mark, the funds go into a holding account (owned by the government) for ‘safe keeping’.
The Government Faction keeps all interest on said money, which has grown to record amounts over the past few decades.
Short, even for a Gnome, Morty is a peculiar fellow…single minded and driven with a passion for science that few can understand. In fact, his drive is so focused, that it was nearly two years, before he realized his wife, Deborah Harper, had left him. He simply thought she had been on an extended business trip.
Driven with a desire to perfect an energy source for Clockworks City and to power future portal machines, Morty continues to work in his secluded laboratory in the lower Districts of the community.
Best friend to Ernie Harper (husband of Deborah Harper), Morty continues to work with the author of this entry to find a way to open the last portal of entry [now known as 'Black Tuesday'] and retrieve what we hope are the survivors of the ‘Tauku incident’.
