Born in the low-income plumbing District of Clockworks City, Nat was born and abandoned at birth, when his Mother and Father were killed in a Political Party riot in 1842-CT (chime-time).
Always looking for a way to better the life of those around him, Nat excelled in his studies of mechanics, working his way through school and finally developing new modes of transportation in crowded areas of the city. Rejected by the Clockworks University (due to social standing), Nat was disgusted by the lack of compassion and the class distinctions made between people with power and money…and those without. For months, Nat sought for a way to spark a change.
As if created by his own mind, he heard of a rally being promoted by a new inventor, that had opposed the Government Faction, by selling his inventions exclusively to the poor. Intrigued, Nat went to the rally and came upon a scene of confusion and utter passion.
The Gnome citizens had been worked into a frenzy, shouting chants of violence against the government powers, while a voice tried to calm them down. The poverty stricken people were angry about the abuse from the Government Faction, from the tithes demanded by the Church Faction and the private sector ignoring them altogether.
It was enough to bring a smile to ones face.
While crossing the street, Nat saw a fellow citizen moving quickly from the crowd, into the path of a shuttle. Acting on pure adrenaline, Nat raced and dove in front of the shuttle, knocking the Gnome clear of the charging vehicle. The driver never noticed the small hero, as the machine crushed both legs beyond redemption.
Nat awoke in a large laboratory, surrounded by doctors who repaired him as best they could. The Gnome Nat saved was none other than the master of the rally: the elusive Motherboard…leader of the G.R.R. (Gnome Resistance Revolutionaries).
His skills have since been employed by Motherboard an the G.R.R..
