…but peace was not to last, for Mahan was still the holder of the Book of Dark Bindings and the unembodied demanded their price as they looked with lust upon the flourishing civilizations of flesh. Yet every war was thwarted by the Hero of the Gem, burning with the immortal power of the Ithari–forcing the Lord of Darkness to flee from the shores of men, elves and dwarves.
Except one.
At the Battle of the Silver Gates, Mahan broke through the defenses of the Evolu and drove his lance through the heart of the Omethiä, the Holy Leader of the Evolu race. In a last attempt to heal himself, the Omethiä drew the lance from his own body and gripped the Lanthya shard hidden beneath his robes, calling upon its power in prayer.
…but Mahan recognized the presence of the shards power all too well. Slashing the Omethiä’s throat, the Dark Lord stole the shard and fled the field of battle, leaving his forces to their own fate.
Over the centuries of time, the Dark Lord mastered the ability to walk among men, weaving his spells to hide his true form beneath the power of the Lanthya. Now a being of light, he mingled with lords and ladies, build friendships and walked freely in the light of day, weaving his webs through the generations.
He learned to prey upon the fears and insecurities of men and turn the hearts of men against one another.
