NaNoWriMo and Wanted Hero
Readers are interested in knowing at what stage the next novel is in the Chronicles of a Hero series. You want to know how far along I am and if I will be able to meet that Thanksgiving deadline I boldly predicted when Prelude to a Hero was published. Well, I have good news and not so good news.
Not-so-good news. With the loss of our home, it’s become a bit more challenging to write, while the audible passing of time ticks in my skull. However, I am determined to succeed and October 1st starts the National Novel Writing Month, also known as NaNoWriMo by enthusiasts. Though I have already been writing furiously, NaNoWriMo is the perfect motivation at the perfect time.
The goal is to write the first draft of a 50,000 word novel in one month.
My goal is slightly different. I want to write the first draft of a 150,000 word novel in a month. My Scrivener tells me that I already have 91,460 words completed, which gives me 58,540 words to go to meet that goal. Will I make it? There’s little doubt, but that’s not good enough. I would like to have the book refined, at least in part, and get is as close to completed as possible. So here’s what I intend to do in November, for Chronicles of a Hero, Vol. 1:
- Complete the entire first draft (at least 150,000 words in total).
- Complete all the pictures for the insides of the book (pen and ink).
- Start the second draft of the novel (complete it if possible).
A lot of work, yes–but worth every moment.
I’m excited to work hard and fast to complete the next section of Wendell’s adventure and I’m sure you are as well. So here’s to November and NaNoWriMo!
