Hi all! I'm Jacob, a writer from the United States aspiring to write while juggling the numerous complexities of school. I've got as many projects as ideas, though I hope to develop worlds as palpable as our own. If you'd like to contact me, the easiest place is through Discord. My name is BrokenJac#8412.
Outside of my full academic and creative schedule, my main activity is theater and swimming. Each are full-time activities that offer a different spin to the monotonous wanderings of life.
Movies are a unique medium, often involving layers of complex character woven into physical actions and dialogue. Picking a star is difficult. However, in my opinion, A Silent Voice is a masterpiece worth the two-plus hours. It makes use of detailed visuals and a complex, relatable story to create a timeless classic that I could watch forever.
Television often is less notable than movies for the sheer volume of content available. However, when something good comes along, it is worth the time commitment. At the moment, for me, that one show is The Umbrella Academy. It has gripping action, enthralling superpowers, and a diverse cast.
As common a thought as it may be, Brandon Sanderson is one of the, if not the, best fantasy author of recent years. Among his many wonderful works, the first one I read will always be my favorite as it stretches onward to an endless future. The Stormlight Archive is a wonderfully executed series that takes place in a detailed world with a complex magic system, each a staple of Sanderson's writing.
With little competition, it is easy to claim that Brandon Sanderson is my favorite author. While there are plenty of skilled authors, Brandon's incredible mastery over the medium is unrivaled in present-day, solidifying him as one of the greats of the fantasy genre.
Games are an interesting section. I personally enjoy a slim range of games including card games, like Rummy, Five Crowns, and Uno; board games, like Risk and Monopoly which offer interesting strategy; and video games, like Animal Crossing and Tetris, which offer a mindless distraction.
