Every story requires worldbuilding.

Advanced Worldbuilding was created out of need.   When designing my first story in 1990, I wanted to craft a one-of-a-kind adventure for my readers. To build a career around the creation of dozens of complex storylines interwoven into a single world.   A fantasy world where a person could happily get lost, over and over again.   That choice led to the creation of Wanted Hero (and eventually this website).   Wanted Hero has always required high-end worldbuilding skills, organized into an easy-to-follow system. I required something to prevent writer's block, increase speed, production and templates to organize the overflow of ideas I'd been having.   When this system was in place, I contacted my friend, NYTimes & International Bestselling Author David Farland to see if such a book had ever been done before.   He said, "The last time a book like this was done, it was written by Isaac Asimov some 40 years ago. We need this."   Encouraged, the book was completed, with Dave giving me a cover quote:
"A fast, fun, and informative guide on how to create your own world. Now if Jaime would only write a guide on how to rule your creations gently!"
— David Farland
You can buy the book now through Amazon or your favorite online retailer--but if you buy DIRECTLY FROM JAIME, you'll not only get the same digital file you would from Amazon and other platforms, Jaime has included the PRINTABLE PDF's not available anywhere else. So now you can print as many of the templates as you need, when you need them!

I bought this book [Worldbuilding Journal] on a hunch and now that it has arrived, I'm already in love!

"I didn't realize how big it actually is when I bought it.   If you don't really feel numbers like I do: it's easily two fingers thick, A4-sized, and softcover.   It's not something to be enshrined, but something to be carried around, to be used and abused whenever creativity strikes you. There are hints of order - templates (with trigger questions that are probably gonna be immensely helpful when I get to the characters I dont't have running around in my head yet!), a table of content for you to fill in and an index, also for you to fill in.   It feels like the perfect amount of structure and freedom, and I can't wait to actually go back and fill in the ToC and index pages later on.   I may be a digital native and do a lot online, but there's just a different quality to actual writing and drawing (especially the drawing!) on paper, and this really makes me want to sit down and get real with my worldbuilding and book planning!"

The Advanced Worlbuilding Journal is the best notebook I’ve owned for my writing and note-taking.

"I’ve used it for everything from detailing out characters, to planning my website layout, to worldbuilding, to (most recently) plotting my first novella.   The templates are fantastically organized, the ability to index and table of contents my general notes is invaluable.   Whether you just need a scratchpad for ideas that won’t get used right away, or volumes to keep your copious lore, the Worldbuilding Journal is the best pen and paper way to do it, hands down."

I don't know exactly what I was expecting when I tracked down the book by that guy in the world anvil video like 16 hours ago but I am astounded by Advanced Worldbuilding and I think I might owe Jaime a life debt.   As early as the dedication the book draws you in, it makes you feel at home and safe to explore. To draw from (what the book says is) the very branding of Jaime's Wanted Hero: it lets you know that "you are more than you think you are."   Coming into this I was getting an inexpensive e-book to try to spark ideas for a new world and abandon the characters I started getting to know back in 2004 because I was at the end of my rope trying to tell a story they could shine in.   By the end of the first few pages, I printed myself a copy to hold in my hands (shipping is impossible right now and the smashwords version made it painless enough).   And now, despite my notoriously poor reading speed and ability to focus, I've just finished "the event." I know what happens last in the first book and how it's setting up the next.   After 16 years I have an ending. I have a trail I can actually follow.   I didn't think ot was possible to write a guidebook so engaging it's as hard to put down as a great story, but here it is... Wow   I will, of course, be adding a review similar to this to the buying places soon, but I was too excited not to send something here immediately.

@A.M Rose,....you MADE MY WEEKEND!! Just read this out loud to my wife, who just say there and grinned.   So YOU'RE the one and only person who bought through the SMASHWORDS platform!!! .   I'd given up on them.   To know that you have not only an ending, but a connection to the "next" book got me all excited...YAY!!   If more people only knew that the process doesn't have to be hard. It doesn't have to be complicated.   ...but it should be FUN.   Then you'll do a better job. You'll have fewer road bumps. You'll make fewer mistakes.   ...and you'll progress faster than you thought possible.   PLEASE come back and keep me in the loop about your progress--I'd love to know if there's anything I missed or could improve upon to make the book even better =)   Thank you again, A.M. Rose.   Always wonderful to know what I use is also valuable to someone else.   CHEERS!
