So, I fell behind on my global updates because this article that I did for Summer Camp Prompt #13: A War that Expanded Territory, and it's the centerpiece of the current story in my campaign - The Kalee-Yam'rii Conflict. It also made me realize I missed a key event in my timeline when writing the articles for Qymaen jai Sheelal and Gekikō‑butai, so I had to go back and edit them. Now that I've taken the time to do that, we're back on track. Happy camping!

Working on getting my world built on World Anvil. I've imagined this world for more than 30 years, long before I even knew what cyberpunk was.

I'm moving to World Anvil from Fictionary as the world building options here are significantly better, and it's a little cheaper each month.

My super augmented former Colonial Fleet Marine, Adi, and her story are still a work in progress.

From the stars, he watched—silent, unseen, drawn not just to her life, but to the fragile heart of what it means to be human.

Something new from me! After the Elves vs. Aliens showdown, I was reading the Discord chat, and Team Alien—specifically Demon Grey—was talking about using aliens for creativity. While I don’t yet have a full sci-fi or alien world, I wanted to explore a specific lens for the story; sometimes that sparks an idea.

I’ve put together a short outline, and here’s my first installment of Starlit Observations! It will be a duet-style tale, following Ven Solari, a Zephri observer, as he begins watching a human woman, Subject 7.3.9.2343—someone he calls Wildflower. What starts as a mission of observation soon becomes something far more personal.

Creative experiments make me happy, and who knows—maybe this will help me fully develop that other sci-fi setting I’ve been dreaming about. I hope you enjoy seeing where this story goes!

  My father was supposed to have a quick procedure done earlier this week. Instead the surgery went wrong. While it didn't go as wrong as the doctors originally thought, he's still not in great shape. Worry made being creative a struggle. I finished the chapter (yay!), but it changed a lot from what I had in mind because I realized I couldn't write it that way.
  Yeah, it's interesting how things outside artistic and writing processes can drastically influence them. Because of that, I don't have much more to add than my Rituals of Renewal article. I had planned a bit more, but that will need to wait for a later update.
  Check out the Dance of Flame. It's part of the history of Likeda, one of the habitations where my upcoming book, Abyss of Dreams, takes place.

  #DarkFantasy #ScienceFantasy #SciFi   ****   Rushing to catch up on all the art stuff I need to get done this month. Here's a peek at what I've been working on for the Abyss of Dreams release. It's a composite of several snowy mountain photos and three different skies, and while I like the dreamlike quality, I'm not quite happy with it. The left peak is Kiune, the right Majari, and deep within the earth below them rests a dragon's lair. I'm creating quotes and working on the map (which is not going as easy as I wish it would).  
  ****   I'm looking for heightmap/terrain generator software. I'm not as concerned about price as I am about quality (though I can't afford something like Houdini. I keep thinking 2D art apps are spendy but 3D has them beat). I've read about several, including Gaea, Blender, Terragen, World Machine, World Creator, etc etc. Anyone have a program they use and like?   ****   Other than that, I've been wondering how I'm going to handle both Greenglimmer and Broken Dulcet coming to an end at the same time I'm releasing Abyss of Dreams. It looks like that's what's going to happen. I had planned to take a month break between the end of the books and the beginning of the next, but I might have to extend that. We'll see how this all turns out, because pantser me doesn't know.   Have a great week, all!   Kwyn

If you want to know where my time has gone, it's been into that. Will I make my Oct deadline? I hope, I hope.   I've also been enjoying Dragon's Dogma 2, and been disappointed in Endless Ocean. I loved the first two games, and how intimate, beautiful, and wondrous they were. This one is not that :(. There's something special about getting an up-close pic of a fish to file, that a long-shot scan that grabs a whole bunch of IDs misses. And the AI voice is awful. *sad tears*   ****   And I'm off, to continue work on the 4th Wellspring Book and working on Knavish Canto's hitting 100K views art.   Take care, all

Ten Days of Worldember in Solaris!

So far Sky and I have written 20 articles, and about 10k words combined! We've explored a bunch of the spacecraft, and the Inner World. We've been having a blast, and I hope you are too!  

What did we write so far?

The banner you see above is from Nomads of Mercury. I also wrote about the humanoid species of Mercury, Mori and Kara. We've been all over the Solar System, taking a stop by Venus' Palace of Delights and their Godqueen Titania. Kind of like how the Humans get everywhere too. I wanted to focus on what interplanetary human migration might be like, and that also got us writing about some arceology. I wrote about the Heller Cave Paintings, while Sky wrote about the Othello Shaft-hole Axe Head.   Sky's been zeroing in on spacecraft this Worldember, starting out with the watchful Aerie O-1, but also a couple classic spacecraft in the Cyklopes SSF-9 and Heretic GA-7. We get a satellite weapons system in Parelion Orbital Defender. Chatting spacecraft with Sky inspired me to write a couple of articles about conditions ships might suffer, inspiring the Cosmic Bloom and Paradisius.   We've written a few supplementary articles as well; Voluntary Indication of Position, Rhea, Jupiter Stella, and Magnomight Systems.  

What's next?

Sky and I have been discussing and working out a lot of the political intrigue we want to set up on the different planets. It'll be great to explore some of the motivations of the Jovians, so we can better understand the threats Jupiter is beginning to pose to interplanetary peace. Venus on World Anvil

Wikipedias featured article today was all about fictional depictions of the planet Venus, and it is rife with excellent worldbuilding inspo. I thought it would be fun to look at Venus on World Anvil too!   In Solaris, Venus is a verdant but hostile paradise covered thick toxic fog. The inhabitants are the alien Fei, plant-people who can curate their own growth to create striking appearances.
