One thing I love that worldbuilding for my book has let me do, is remix real historical events, facts and people into something fun and interesting for my world and story. I was thinking up lore for my fictional country and the homeland of my main character, and didn't even keep it to his era but stretched back to precolonial times to find reasoning for why the once great kingdom is the way it is today. Researching real historical factions was fun, I hope I did some of them justice with my article The Pouring Cup
